Our Physicians

C.J. Holmes, MD

Dr. Holmes received his undergraduate training from Michigan State University majoring in Physiology and Liberal Arts and earning membership into the Phi Kappa Phi honors fraternity. He then attended Wayne State University School of Medicine graduating in 1985. He received his residency training at Universtiy of Pittsburgh, St. Margaret Memorial Hospital graduating in 1988. He also became Board Certified in Family Practice that year. He has been with Alma Family Practice since 1988, being granted full hospital privileges at MidMichigan Medical Center Gratiot since that time. Dr. Holmes maintains and active practice in the full spectrum of Family Medicine, especially in preventive medicine and outpatient and office surgery.

 

He resides in Alma with his wife, Ginna, and is active in the community. He has been a leader at his church on the Board of Trustees and as head of the Administrative Council, and he has been an elected member of the Alma Public Schools Board since 2004.

 

Dr. Holmes enjoys outdoor sports, swimming, kayaking, hiking, and skiing. He also enjoys travel, art and museums, and spending time with his four children.

 

Dr. Holmes is available in the office for appointments Monday through Wednesday from 9:00-4:00 pm, and his hours on Friday may vary.

Scott Strom, DO

Dr. Strom was born in Pontiac, MI. He earned his Bachelor of Arts from Kalamazoo College with a dual degree in English Literature and Health Sciences. Prior to medical school, he was a researcher at the University of Michigan with five published scholarly articles. He earned his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2004. He was elected into the Sigma Sigma Phi academic honors society. He performed his postgraduate medical training at Genesys Regional Medical Center in Grand Blanc, MI where he was given the 2007 teaching award from the Society of Teachers in Family Medicine. Dr. Strom is dually-certified in Family Medicine and Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine. He joined Alma Family Practice in 2007. He served as Chief of Staff from 2016 through 2017 as well as Chair of the Department of Family Practice from 2010 to 2023 at MyMichigan Medical Center-Alma. He teaches in the Family Medicine residency program at MyMichigan Medical Center-Alma and is also an Adjunct Professor of Community Medicine at MSU-College of Osteopathic Medicine.

 

Dr. Strom enjoys books, movies and spending time with his wife and two children.

 

Dr. Strom is available in the office for appointments Monday through Wednesday from 9:00-4:00 pm, Thursday from 9-11:30 am, and his Friday hours may vary.

Shaun Moon, DO

Dr. Moon was born in Ithaca, MI. He earned his Bachelor of Arts in Biochemistry/Biology from Albion College. He then attended Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine where he earned his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree in 2014. Dr. Moon performed his postgraduate medical training at Genesys Regional Medical Center in Grand Blanc, MI. He is dually certified in Family Medicine and Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine. He joined Alma Family Practice in 2017.

 

Dr. Moon enjoys Ithaca & U of M football, Tiger Baseball, golf, camping and spending time with his family.

 

Dr. Moon is available in the office for appointments Monday and Tuesday 9:00am-4:00pm, Wednesday 9:00am-11:30am, Thursday 9:00am-4:00pm, and his Fridays may vary.

Sally Harrison, MSN, APRN, FNP-BC

 

Sally grew up and went through primary school in Alma, MI. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in biology from Kalamazoo College. She then went on to earn her Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from University of Rochester. After several years of working as a registered nurse in the intensive care units in both Michigan and Florida, she continued her education at Florida Atlantic University and obtained her master’s degree as a family nurse practitioner in 2021. She started her career in Florida working as an internal medicine nurse practitioner before moving back to her hometown of Alma and joining Alma Family Practice in 2022. She is a member of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners and the Michigan Chapter of Nurse Practitioners. She likes to take a holistic approach with her patients and focuses on preventative medicine and lifestyle modifications to achieve optimum health.

 

Sally resides in Alma with her daughter, Maila. She enjoys being active whether it be fishing, biking, running, taking walks, or going on hikes. She finds importance in mental balance with activities such as yoga and meditation along with being involved in her local church. She likes to travel when possible and experience new cultures.

 

Sally is available in the office for appointments on Monday 8am-5pm • Tues & Thurs 8am-8pm, and Fri 8am-5pm.

Laura Mastee, DNP, FNP-c

Dr. Laura Mastee DNP, FNP-c earned her Doctorate in Nursing Practice from the University of Michigan with a focus on Family Practice.  She is a member of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners, Michigan Chapter of Nurse Practitioners and Sigma Theta Tau International Honors Society of Nursing.  Laura joined Alma Family Practice in 2019.  She has been serving her communities in the medical field for over 15 years. 

 

Laura enjoys watching her husband coach varsity football on Friday nights in the fall, cheering on her Michigan Wolverines alma mater in all sporting events, spending time with her dog, Spud, and adventures to tropical destinations. 

 

Laura is available in the office for appointments on Monday 8am-5pm , Wednesday 8am-5pm, Thursday 8am-5pm, and Friday 8am-5pm.
